Size 3 R will fit a calf circumference of 17" and the R denotes 'regular height
The earliest issued were stamped on the inside as are these leggins
Midwar a small white tag was added (these do not have the tag, they are stamped as shown)
9 metal hoods to secure the laces, later leggins had fewer to conserve metal, these leggins have 8 hooks
Brass hardware with the earlier leggins (later used steel, these leggins are steel)
No published regulation regarding how the soldier was to tie off the lace at the top
Leggins were impregnated to resist blistering agents
