• The ALICE System - All Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment.  The ALICE system replaced and upgraded all the old load bearing systems that cme before it.  The base of the system was the M1972 system, shortly after that the system changed to this ALICE system.  Base components from the M1972 system where kept and upgraded.  This system, like its predecessors, included the baseline gear for an individual operator to sustain themselves during combat and other tactical missions in the field.  Pouches and accessories were attached by slide, belt keepers called ALICE clips.  This system was introduced in 1973 and was standard issue into the early 2000's and continued to be utilized in training and other environments well into 2010.  It was then replaced by the MOLLE tactical gear system and was used during that time as well.
